Wilsonian Sailing Club welcomes all new members whether they currently own a boat or not and are proud of our open and friendly atmosphere and want to promote and encourage dinghy sailing for all.
Please feel free to contact the Membership Secretary or visit on a Sunday and talk to the Chief Duty Officer.
Wilsonian Sailing Club is run entirely by its members. Prior to joining all applicants will need to fill out an application form and meet a member of the committee who will explain members' obligations.
To accommodate the different circumstances of different groups there are different types of membership.
A Full Member must be over 18 years of age or over on the 1st January. They enjoy the full amenities of the Club and have the power to vote.
Family Membership consist of cohabiting partners, or a single parent, and their children up to the age of eighteen years on the 1st January. Each cohabiting partner, or single parent, is considered a Full member.
Student Membership is open to persons aged 18 years or over on the 1st January receiving full-time education. Student Members have all the rights and privileges of Full Membership. This class of membership may be extended to persons in a recognised low paid training post such as an apprenticeship at the General Committee's discretion.
Junior Membership is open to those up to the age of eighteen years on the 1st January. A Junior Member is entitled to the amenities of the Club and has no power to vote. Before a candidate is nominated for Junior Membership a parent or guardian must sign a form absolving the Club of any liability in the event of injury or accident.
An existing member may apply to be transferred to Country Membership on moving from the district and whose normal address is then over 75 miles from the Club. A Country Member shall be entitled to the amenities of the Club, with the exception of the allocation of a space in the dinghy park.
At the discretion of the General Committee, Temporary Members may be elected and shall be entitled to the amenities of the Club. Temporary Members do not have any voting rights. Visitors to Open Meetings are treated as Temporary Members.
The Club, on the recommendation of the General Committee, may in General Meeting elect Honorary Members.
At the discretion of the General Committee, members may be elected to Life Membership on payment of such single subscription as determined by the General Committee. Applicants for Life Membership need to have been full members of the Club for at least twelve consecutive months.
Associate membership may be offered to a member of ten or more years standing who is retiring from regular sailing because of age or ill-health. Applications for Associate Membership are granted at the discretion of the General Committee.
Wilsonian Sailing Club expects to keep all fees to members to a bare minimum so we encourage as many people who want to join and sail to get onto the water.
